My Grown Up Wardrobe

This post is going to be slightly out of the norm for me but I went shopping last night for some work pants and I'm feeling inspired, what can I say? Sometimes shopping does that to you. So this is the story of Frizz trying to have a grown up wardrobe.
I am athlete. Shocker. As such, I loved nothing more being in my sweats and a t-shirt with my ginormous hair in a blob on the top of my head. In about the 7th grade, I realized this was not going to make the cut with the big kids, so I attempted to change some. The results were not much better. They were actually hilarious. I wish my pics were digital so you could see, but I straightened my hair with a 10 dollar curling iron that released steam. Not ideal. I think it made it bigger. I had no clue where to start on clothes because fashion was never a big deal in my fam. So it was purely trial and error. I thought by the time that I was a sophomore, I was doing alright. And it was acceptable, but just barely. It was still a lot of t-shirts (but they were roxy, so what did it matter? wrong.) Jeans still weren't working out and shoes were still an issue though. Oh, and make-up. Looking, back, it was not good.
Then probably right before my senior year I was introduced by my lovely young women's leader to TLC's "What Not To Wear". Love this show. Love love love it. If you've never seen it, watch it. Here. This show taught me everything I know. When I moved out was when I decided I needed to break out of the roxy t's and shirts that were short, etc. I got a job where I couldn't have writing or brands on any of my clothing so that's when it all really started and I decided to get a "grown up" wardrobe. So seeing as how I am a college student and I am not made of money, it has taken me almost 2 years, but I think I have finally reached a point, where I have options and can assemble a few great outfits. I am so excited. As stated above I looooove my sweats, but there I times that I really enjoy putting on a great pencil skirt with a fitted blouse, a pair of heels and some accessories. Add an anti-frizz hair do and some luck, and a head or two just might turn.
Now none of this is meant in arrogance, just excitement that I am making progress. There is still a long way to go but I am getting there. So, anybody who wants to go shopping. Just let me know, because I also know where to get stuff for good prices. :D

Ok, the pic was too big so here's the link, hopefully it works.

Ha!! I found one on facebook. So this is Tyson, funny kid. But if you notice in the background, 1. soccer jacket (that I actually still have and love when appropriate), 2. roxy t, 3. khakis that are two short, 4. platform tennis shoes and 5. nasty puffy ponytail.

The ninth grade was so glamorous.
If nothing else I am grateful for a fabulous straightening iron. Expensive? Yes, but with my hair, it was worth every penny. Thank you the chi.
