Finals Week

Finals week.  Some dread it, I love it.  I would take finals any day over midterms.  With midterms you still have to go to class, do homework, do all the readings, and still find time to study extra AND test.  With finals week, all you do is study... test ... repeat.  My finals went pretty well, my best was this afternoon, and I freaked out.  I finished my test, turned it in to the workers, and waited to see my score on the screen.  My number popped up, and words popped up...it took a minute to connect the dots.  That means that I did really well!!  They computer posted a "Way to Go!" next to my score, it was one of my most exciting BYU moments.   Ask Katie, I wigged when I got home.
Anyways, some fun stuff happened this week, I went to a small party on tuesday night.  It was kind of nice to just take a night off and kick it and see some friends I hadn't seen in a while.  Then last night, I took a last minute trip to Salt Lake.  One of my best friends from camp this summer got her mission call.  Molly "Check" DiFrancesco is going to the California San Bernadino Mission, enlish speaking.  She leaves on the 28th of January, crazy quick, but I'm super excited for her because she has been waiting so long!
Anyways, that's all.  I'm done with finals and ready to go home in the morning!  I will be there for 2 full weeks, that hasn't happened since I moved to college a year and a half ago, it'll be great.

Take Two

So I originally started this blog 7 months ago for the sake of jotting down my weekly experiences at camp when I was home on the weekends, knowing that I wouldn't have much journaling time up there.  Well, it turns out that didn't work out very well.  I was so worn out by the end of each week of camp that my weekends typically consisted of falling asleep early on Friday nights, sleeping in until one on saturdays, upload the weeks pictures onto my computer and then doing laundry and possibly hanging out with Shawn or Marissa if they were in town.  And then more sleeping, church and back up to camp Sunday afternoon.  Thus, no blog posts about camp.
I am trying again though, because I am still terrible at writing in my journal, and I don't even have a legit excuse, so I am going to try this blog business again and see if I have any more luck.  I'm not sure what all I will post about.  It will more than likely be slightly scatter-brained, as most things I do are.  However, I will include current events in life for sure, that is part of the title of this blog.  I think I will throw in some random stories from camp as they pop into my mind, just because there are some great ones.  Like Checko, and ants in her pants.  Yup, that one will be up here shortly for sure.
So there is a re-introduction.  Wish me luck, because I'm giving this a wo!!  I even made my page cute so hopefully I can keep it up!!

ER Visit Outburst!!

So I come from a pretty healthy family, my mom is a nurse at Primary Children's Hospital, my sister is a physical therapist assistant but know's EVERTHING about the subject. I am majoring in Fitness and Wellness at BYU so I have studied some health related topics myself. I've been to the hospital a grand total of once my entire life, I got an x-ray on my foot, nothing dramatic. However, there has been what seems like a mass amount of emergency room visits recently. I went in last Monday on May 5th for what we thought was appenidicitis. 2 catscans, 1 IV, 5 hours and a terrible contrast later, they decided it was a ruptured ovarian cyst. Blah. Luckily, it means no surgery, at least for right now. I have to go to a gynecologist next week to see if there is anything else wrong. Then, three days later, my friend Nate sends me a text and says he blew out his knee. Round 2 at the emergency room. His trip was much more comfortable and a lot shorter. They said he probably just has a partial tear of a ligament and sent him home after a little more than an hour. He saw a specialist a few days later, it turns out his whole ACL is gone. He has to have surgery next week and will take a long time to recover. Finally, (at least for now, it is starting to become a scary pattern) my mom called me last night and said that my darling 2 year old nephew went into the emergency room on Wednesday night. They naturally, didnt know what was wrong with him, other than that he was having struggles breathing. They admitted him and he spent two days at Primary Childrens. He is currently doing better, but I still don't know for sure what was wrong. The moral of the story is, Emergency rooms are pretty much lame unless you have a gyser of blood being emitted from facial oracles or limbs dangling off the body, only being held on by a few veins or arteries, also beginning to spout blood. All these years, I thought my mom was crazy for never taking us to the hospital for our little injuries, but I now know, they are pretty worthless unless you are in a deathly state, just take an ibprofen, take a nap, and get over it.

A Whole New P-Town

So yesterday was a sad day. We all had to move out of our apartment which, we loved. It is a perfect little apartment that was just barely remodelid on the inside so it was nice and new. My roommate Alejandra Sayavedra and I moved from our aparment #312 to #304 because they are renovating the boys' aparments over the summer so they needed somewhere to stay. It is really different sharing a room with her and not Katie, not bad, just different. Katie is pretty much my siamese twin, partner in crime, other half, etc. We have been attached at the hip since we moved in together in September. Last night I was super bored because after moving all day, I went to dinner with Shawn and Will and then we caught up on American Idol for a few hours but I didn't want to over-stay my welcome so I left and went to unpack some more. Shortly after, I needed to check something on the internet so I went to Nate's apartment (since we don't have it in the new apartment yet.). This was fun because he just graduated and I hadn't seen him since all the ceremonies so we got to talk about it for a few minutes before he had to run off to a party. After this however, it was only about 11:00 pm. I went to the new apartment and starting working on stuff and my new roommate, Jackie Hicken came home. She lived there before with 3 of her best friends so I think it will be hard for her to accept new people living there but hopefully it will all go over smoothly, if not, I really will only be there until June 1st and then I go to camp so I will only be there on the weekends. Anyways, things are very different now. Katie is gone and Marissa is gone, my other best friend down here, but she's coming to visit soon so that will be good. I am in a new apartment, with new roommates, new work schedule and no classes, also new for the first time in years. So that's my story, sad, I know but I'm sure it will get better. As long as Will, Shawn and Nate don't all get sick of me!! ;)

Dinna Group

I currently particpate in a dinner group here at BYU, it's awesome. There are 8 of us and we cook Monday-Thursday so I really only have to cook once every two weeks, it is great. Tonight is my night to cook. I am making Ranch Parmesian Chicken, Broccoli Salad (I know, it sounds disgusting but it is actually delicious.), Frog-Eyed Salad (Something else that sounds disgusting, but is, as you guessed, delicioius.), Mashed Potatoes and Brown Sugar Pudding for dessert. (It's not really pudding, I haven't figured out why they call it that.) Anyways, our group is hilarious. There are three guys, Nate Kartchner, Shawn Saunders, and Will Duncan, they are outrageously funny. Then there are five girls. Me, my roommate Katie Burrell, our next door neighbors Andrea Richens and TaeLynn Eastman as well as Besty Sieber who lives in Chattam Town, she's great. We are all super goofy and love to bask in it. They have become some of my best friends down here at BYU and I'm going to be really sad to see half of the group leave in two weeks due to the end of the semester. We have nicknames for each day of the week.
