Lake Powell

Wow, I can't believe it's been two weeks since I posted. It has been a crazy two weeks and MUCH has happened in that time period, so I will begin with where I left off. I made it through my crazy busy week mentioned in previous post. I did decent on all my tests except one, oh well. In ten years, that test really won't matter so I'm not concerned. That Thursday night I took my last test and started out on my journey to Lake Powell.
The first leg of the trip was to Cedar City to pick up Krisina. It was 3 hours of driving in the dark by myself on the open highway which I am not used to, but don't you fret, I definitely just made it a rock concert the whole time, secretly wishing my sound system was as good as Will's when we went to Tacoma last year. It was great to just rock out and sing at the top of my lungs. :D Then I picked up Krisina and we hit leg two of the trip which was just a short one to St. George. We of course had to swing by IN-N-OUT because it's right by Vicki's place, even though it was 12:30 at night. It was delicious. Then we crashed at my sister's place for the night, and by the night, I mean about 4 1/2 hours, and then we were back on the road. We left St. George around 5 am so we could be to the lake by 8, and after turning around several times at the beginning of this leg, we were only 15 minutes late parking at the marina. Mad driving skills. Ok, but not really.
So we got to the lake and these are the first pictures and sight of Lake Powell in my life.
Lake Powell at 8:30 am. So Pretty.

They had breakfast ready on the houseboat when we got there which was so great after running for over 24 hours without much in they way of real food. After breakfast we cleaned up and got ready to head out on the boat for the day. We packed lunches and then hopped on the boat. We rode out to Rainbow bridge which was pretty neat. It was a big arch pretty much but it was cool and the ride out there was beautiful.

After Rainbow Bridge we went to "Hole in the Rock" which was something I had no idea about. But the story is incredible. The pioneers were traveling through the area and had to get down the canyon so they wound up making a crevice in the canyon wall and taking their animals, wagons, and families down it. I can't even imagine. And we can only see half of it because the other half is under the lake. Pioneer stories always amaze me.
Click on the picture so you can see the
crack that they actually went down.
It's amazing.
After "Hole in the Rock" we went to "Dangling Rope" and then back to the house boat. It was a lot of boating but it was just super chill and exactly what I needed. The first hour was cold, but it got better. We all wound up falling asleep in the front of the boat pretty much. I felt like our old dog Tasha, just so content to bask in the sunshine and soak up all of it's warmth. It was great.
We got back to the house boat at about 4:30 so McKay and I decided to go hike around some. We bouldered up a little canyon and just wandered around for about 2 hours catching up and talking, it was really nice and we had some good talks.

we bouldered up.

Then Suz put on a luau with some amazing food and we just chilled and played games all night, it was a blast. We slept under the stars on top of the houseboat and then Krisina and I left early on Saturday morning to get back to Provo in time for work. The Davies were so great for letting us come down and enjoy the lake for a day, it was so fun to experience Lake Powell for my first time with people really know ALL about Lake Powell. It was great.
